The Melaka State Government, the Office of Public-Private Partnership of the ADB and the South East Asia Department of the ADB agreed to work jointly in the preparation of a viable project for replacement of HSV streetlights in Melaka State with energy efficient LED street lights. After assessing the feasibility of such a replacement, the ADB has contracted ICLEI – South Asia to carry out an investment grade energy audit study to enable the development of a viable business model for replacement of HPSV streetlights across Melaka state in four districts i.e. Melaka, Alor Gajah, Jasin and Hang Tuah Jaya. This audit will cover a total of 107,525 streetlights installed by local governments (PBTs) and the electricity supply company i.e. Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB). The energy audit study will cover sample size of 10% of the existing asset inventory, which amounts to 10,753 streetlights across the state, representing the entire 107,525 lights in the state.
