Himachal Pradesh launches EV Dashboard and Electric Mobility Awareness publications

The Government of Himachal Pradesh, with support from ICLEI South Asia, continues to strengthen its commitment to sustainable transportation through the rapid expansion of electric mobility across the state. and has taken several significant steps towards becoming a green state. A key initiative in this direction is the development of the EV Dashboard – edrivehimachal.in — a centralised platform that offers comprehensive information related to electric vehicles by the Directorate of Transport, with support from ICLEI South Asia. On 20 January, during a press conference held at the Himachal Pradesh Secretariat, the EV Dashboard and two booklets titled “Promotion of Electric Vehicles in Hilly Regions – Awareness Guide” and “EV Readiness Framework for Himachal Pradesh” were officially launched. Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Shri Mukesh Agnihotri; Additional Chief Secretary Shri R. D. Nazeem, IAS; Director Transport Shri Neeraj Kumar, IAS; DIG Traffic, Tourist and Railways Shri Gurudev Sharma, IPS; Secretary of the State Transport Authority Shri Naresh Thakur (HAS); Shri Indranil Goswami, representative from Shakti Foundation, and Vijay Saini, Varsha Parmar, and Arun Thakur, representatives from ICLEI South Asia were present at the event. With the EV Dashboard in place, citizens can now easily access all EV-related information on a single platform, improving awareness, transparency, and convenience. The dashboard simplifies the process of locating charging stations and understanding EV policies and benefits. The dashboard provides a single, integrated EV charger map displaying all EV charging stations across Himachal Pradesh, including chargers installed at petrol pumps, hotels, and other public and private locations. It enables charging infrastructure companies to directly update and maintain their charger locations on the platform. It shares details on government initiatives related to electric vehicles, information on the State EV Policy, central and state EV guidelines, the state’s vision and objectives for EV adoption, and actions already undertaken as well as those planned for the future. The platform also provides basic information on different types of electric vehicles, addresses common myths related to EVs, and shares the latest news and updates on electric mobility in the state. A key feature, the EV calculator, helps users understand potential cost savings by comparing the cost of charging an electric vehicle—either at public charging stations or at home—with the fuel cost of internal combustion engine vehicles. Overall, edrivehimachal.in serves as a simple, user-friendly, and transparent platform that supports EV adoption and strengthens Himachal Pradesh’s transition towards sustainable and green mobility. While the adoption of electric vehicles in Himachal Pradesh has been steadily increasing, consumer concerns persist, particularly on EV performance in hilly terrain and cold climatic conditions. To address these concerns and enhance public awareness, the Transport Department, with support from ICLEI South Asia, has developed two dedicated booklets: “Promotion of Electric Vehicles in Hilly Regions – Awareness Guide”, aimed at clearing common myths related to EVs, and the “EV Readiness Framework for Himachal Pradesh”, which provides structured guidance to support the planning and advancement of electric mobility across the state. Alongside the dashboard, the two booklets help address common myths and concerns, supporting informed decision-making and accelerating electric mobility adoption in Himachal Pradesh.
