11th International conference and Exhibition on "Good Urban Governance for Safe, Healthy, Green, Inclusive and Smart Cities"

ICLEI South Asia was one of the supporting organizations of the event, which brought together different organizations, agencies, city and state governments, and companies to exhibit their journey towards sustainability.
In addition, ICLEI South Asia organized a component on ‘Cities Adapting to Climate Change’ on the 14th of March, in association with GIZ (German Development Corporation). The session offered insights to the way climate resilience could be approached in urban centers in India. It brought together available knowledge on various approaches of mainstreaming, strengthening capacities and participatory planning towards climate resilience in urban areas.
Different state governments and cities have prepared their State Action Plans for addressing climate related issues and there is scope for mutual learning amongst the organizations, cities and institutions. The session thus offered a platform for exchanging experience on climate change adaptation strategies, challenges addressed, success factors and lessons learned for incorporating practices in their decision making.

ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability seeks to build an international policy environment that strengthens local government and supports local sustainability. To facilitate this, ICLEI coordinates local government representation in several UN organizations. ICLEI helps strengthen the capacity of local government officials and leaders to drive a process of change towards sustainable development. ICLEI’s Global Capacity Centre (formerly the International Training Centre) organizes seminars, workshops, and conferences, and offers distance training, study tours, and exchange programs. Regular conferences focused on capacity building and exchange take place globally and regionally.
ICLEI South Asia offers local governments a range of services that support training and capacity building on a number of topics such as carbon emission inventorisation, vulnerability assessment, resilience strategy development, integrated water management, holistic waste management, urban mobility and local biodiversity planning. These trainings are sometimes included in programmes and projects, but could also be designed as stand-alone initiatives.
Conferences organized by ICLEI South Asia also provide opportunities for peer exchanges and capacity building, such as the Asia LEDS Partnership Forums and the Resilient Cities Asia Pacific Congresses.
Technical and consulting services, as well as event organization, are provided on a contract basis, in a variety of areas including:
- Surveys, best practices identification and documentation, methodological research, and other studies;
- Development of pilot and demonstration projects;
- Fee-for-service technical consulting in key management areas relevant to local government.

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, over the last 20 years, has built considerable in-house research capacity drawing on inter-disciplinary teams of experts and practitioners across its offices worldwide.
