Spotlight on Habitat Degradation in Himachal Pradesh at UNCCD COP14

ICLEI South Asia presented its work on habitat degradation in Himachal Pradesh at a session on land degradation organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The event was held during the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) COP14, held from the 2nd to 13th of September in Greater Noida, India.

The work in Himachal Pradesh is part of a UNDP-supported project entitled ‘Undertaking a study to define the extent and intensity of habitat degradation, and prepare a model mitigation plan in alpine and sub-alpine areas in SECURE Himalaya project landscapes of Himachal Pradesh.’

The project deals with the issue of habitat degradation through a landscape approach.

ICLEI South Asia’s presentation was highly appreciated by the audience, which comprised senior government officials and representatives from academia and non-governmental organisations from various countries.
