Urban95, CapaCITIES Initiatives Get Special Mention at a District-Level Event “Samvad” Held in Udaipur
ICLEI South Asia’s Urban95 and CapaCITIES projects were praised for their exemplary initiatives towards making Udaipur city child-friendly and climate-resilient, during a three-day event organised by the District Collectorate and media group Rajasthan Patrika from 23-25 April 2022.
The event ‘Samvad with Voluntary Organisations’ aimed to seek the support of non-governmental organisations in spreading awareness about the state’s programmes among the general public and enhancing accountability by coordinating with government departments. At the event, Deputy Director of Integrated Child Development Services Pankaj Dwivedi praised the Urban95 programme, which is supported by the Bernard van Leer Foundation, for establishing an ideal Anganwadi and for enhancing the early development of children by revitalising urban spaces in the city.
Udaipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Himmat Singh Barhath presented the ongoing development works in the city. He also highlighted the climate mitigation and adaptation initiatives taken under the CapaCITIES project, funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, especially Green Mobility Zone Programme for the old city area and urban forest development. He also appreciated ICLEI South Asia for the technical support UMC received for Climate-Smart City Assessment Framework 2.0.
