“Adopting Integrated Urban Water Management in Indian Cities” (AdoptIUWM) Project is a European Commission Funded Project for capacity building and undertaking water sector reforms for 2 cities in Rajasthan and 2 cities in Maharashtra .
ICLEI South Asia is implementing this 42 month (3.5 year) project in partnership with ICLEI European Secretariat (ICLEI ES) and VVSG (Association of Flemish Cities and Municipalities, Belgium).
An Indian specific toolkit on Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM) is being developed by ICLEI South Asia and Project partners, based on principles of ‘SWITCH – Managing Water for the City of the Future’ Training kit, for which ICLEI European Secretariat was a key partner. The Indian adaptation of the IUWM toolkit is also being tested in the project cities and would be published as a part of the Project.
Capacity building of Municipal Officials, development of IUWM based action plans for project cities and implementation of 2 pilot projects in each Project city (Total 8 pilot projects in 4 cities) shall be undertaken as a part of the project. Ministry of Urban Development is being involved in all stages of the Project.
