The Illustrated Natural Asset Maps are distinctive visual tools that simplify, represent and communicate information about complex ecosystem structures, functions and services in a geographical area. The maps have been developed to communicate the significance and need to conserve urban biodiversity with the citizens.
As part of the INTERACT-Bio project, which is supported by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, these maps have been developed by ICLEI South Asia for the project cities of Kochi, Gangtok, Panaji, Jammu and Srinagar.
ICLEI South Asia has developed the Illustrated Natural Asset Map of Hyderabad through a project supported by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. The project focussed on developing the City Biodiversity Index and Green Cover estimation of the city.
Through a project on development of the People’s Biodiversity Register of Nagpur, a similar map has been developed for the city, by ICLEI South Asia.
With support from HCL Foundation, ICLEI South Asia has developed the Illustrated Natural Asset Map of Noida. In order to make it more user friendly the same has been made interactive as well. Click here to view the interactive map
