Green Era Recyclers, along with Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) and ICLEI South Asia, launched an e-bin initiative in Ward 22, Corporation Park, near BSNL Office under Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation funded CapaCITIES Sunya Project.
The e-bin aims to collect electronic wastes which are being disposed with regular kitchen wastes. Dr.K. VijayaKarthikeyan, Corporation Commissioner, had visited the e-bin located site and stall where discarded electronic waste were displayed, and encouraged the ward residents to use the bins for waste segregation.
“With the increase in usage of electronic gadgets, disposal, segregation and recycling bin wastes have turned out to be a mammoth task”, said Mr. Prashanth Omanakuttan, Managing Partner, Green Era Recyclers.
The Corporation plans to install more of such bins in other locations as well.
The Sunya stakeholders, CCMC officials and Sunya ICLEI team were present at the event.
