Critical Ecosystems for Local Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans for Jammu, Srinagar Identified
ICLEI South Asia is developing the Local Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans for Jammu and Srinagar under the INTERACT-Bio project, supported by the International Climate Initiative of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUV), Germany. In this regard, stakeholder consultations were held in Jammu and Srinagar on the 15th and 17th of November 2022, respectively. During the consultations, the vision, focus areas, and degradation drivers that need to be addressed were finalised. Mandated for all signatories to the Convention on Biological Diversity, LBSAPs help to undertake action at the local level to achieve the targets in the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan and are, thus, an effective means for mainstreaming biodiversity conservation.
