Disaster Risk Reduction: Towards Disaster Resilience in cities
ICLEI South Asia analysed the disaster loss and damage database for three countries (Indonesia, Cambodia and Sri Lanka), with an aim to correlate trends in loss and damage from disasters reported at the national and subnational levels (in the database), with disasters and damage recorded at the city level.
City level data collection on climate change and disaster patterns along with disaster preparedness, were carried out. following this, City specific Disaster Risk Reduction – Climate Change Adaptation (DRR – CCA) action plans have been developed for Ratnapura and Balangoda in Sri Lanka, Kampong Cham and Prey Veng in Cambodia and
Surabaya and Banda Aceh in Indonesia.
