EcoLogistics: Sensitising Drivers on Eco-driving Techniques and Conservation of Resources
ICLEI South Asia conducted a training workshop for the Shimla Municipal Corporation’s driver’s on fuel conservation with eco-driving techniques under the chairpersonship of Hon’ble Shri Ashish Kohli, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Shimla (MCS), Himachal Pradesh. The training was conducted as one of the major components of the demonstration project implemented in the city in collaboration with the municipal corporation, administration, and private partners as stakeholders under the EcoLogistic project, supported by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and hosted by Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK).
The training was attended by 45 drivers who were sensitised and apprised about the significance of resource management and conservation by the current generation to save those for the future. During the training, consumption, and wastage of resources due to lack of knowledge about availability and cost associated with them were discussed. Awareness about safe driving habits and information on practices to save fuel while handling vehicles were shared with the participants. In the question-and-answer session, the participating drivers raised their queries and concerns about the concepts introduced in the training. The training was concluded with a vote of thanks from the chairperson with a desire to arrange further such training for the MCS’s staff.
