EcoLogistics: Shimla Approves Baseline Report on Urban Freight
Municipal Corporation Shimla (MCS) approved the baseline report on urban freight in the city on the 22nd of November 2021, following the incorporation of feedback and a review. The report was prepared by ICLEI South Asia.
The baseline report was submitted for MCS’ approval on the 1st of November 2021. Earlier, in September 2021, Additional Commissioner, MCS, had chaired a meeting attended by his officers and staff and ICLEI South Asia staff, where the project consultants had presented the process of preparing the baseline report, the results of their analysis, freight issues and the proposals developed for Shimla. MCS attendees had shared their feedback on the report.
The report has now been shared with parastatal bodies that are among the stakeholders of the ‘EcoLogistics-Low Carbon Freight for Sustainable Cities’ project. The baseline analysis will help them understand the urban freight sector, especially in Shimla, and its projections, and the progress being made under the EcoLogistics project, which is supported by the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, Germany, through its International Climate Initiative programme.
