Udaipur Urban95 Steering Committee Holds First Meeting to Review Activities
The Udaipur Municipal Corporation (UMC) held the first Udaipur Urban95 Programme Steering Committee (PSC) meeting on the 12th of April 2022 to discuss the Urban95 and Parents+ Programmes.
Mr. Himmat Singh Barhath, Commissioner, UMC, chaired the meeting, which was attended by representatives from the UMC, Bernard van Leer Foundation and ICLEI South Asia. Ms. Rushda Majeed, India Representative, BvLF, said: “Currently, we are collaborating with the UMC for two programmes under Udaipur Urban95: Urban95, which is implemented jointly by the UMC, ICLEI South Asia and Ecorys India Pvt. Ltd, and Parents+, which is led by Jatan Sanasthan under the aegis of the UMC. We are supporting Urban95 in Udaipur city with the objective of making the city safer, friendlier, and inclusive for young children and their caregivers.” Parents+ emphasises the role played by parents and caregivers during a child’s formative early years. Both Urban95 and Parents+ are being funded by BvLF.
Mr Amit Upadhyay, Programme Manager, Urban95 Udaipur, shared the progress being made under the two programmes. Detailed discussions were held on site finalisation for various projects, such as Child Priority Zones (CPZs), 1.5 km connected shared street and three child and family-friendly traffic junctions, semi-permanent projects at the Anganwadi centre at Pula, the primary healthcare centre at Dhanmandi, and the ITC Master Checklist.
The meeting also discussed on-ground implementation, Child Safety Guidelines and the Early Childhood Development Policy, along with various reports related to the ongoing activities were presented before the committee for its approval.
