The cities of Kakinada, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam have been implementing the project “Mainstreaming Climate Actions in Three Cities of Andhra Pradesh” since 2023, with the support of ICLEI South Asia and C40. The project aims to support the city authorities in these three project cities to mainstream climate considerations within planning, financing
and delivery of urban services, and it is being implemented until June 2025.
Objectives
Key Objectives:
- Mainstreaming of climate considerations in planning, financing, and delivery of services
at the city level, through Climate Resilient City Action Plans.
- To support integrating climate-resilient approaches into the city development process
and to enable the implementation of low carbon and climate-resilient development
projects.
- Provide support to project cities to strengthen data aggregation and reporting of their
climate action information to national as well as international platforms.
Project Activities and Outputs:
- Preparation of city-level Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory
- Preparation of city-level Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment for urban sectors
- Development of Net-zero Climate Resilient City Action Plan (CRCAP)
- Technical assistance or study for one low-carbon action project in three cities
- One knowledge-sharing event on Climate Action Planning
- Project Closure Workshop
- Support in reporting climate action data to national and international platforms (CSCAF/
UOF & Global Covenant of Mayors (GCOM))
