Project Summary

The Resilient Cities Action Package Program 2021 (ReCAP21) is a partnership between GIZ, ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, the Resilient Cities Network, and Cities Alliance. It aims to increase the capacity of selected cities in Rwanda, Bangladesh, and Mauritania for combatting pandemics (including primary healthcare, health management, public life) while addressing other priorities in urban settings. To achieve this objective, the implementing partners have joined forces to design common frameworks and approaches for resilient recovery that can help address the vulnerabilities exposed by this crisis and the ones still to come, and we stand ready to help turn our cities’ vision for a resilient future into reality.

The ReCAP21 project specifically focuses on:

  1. Increase the capacity for combatting future public health threats (including primary health care, health management, public life),
  2. Identify priority recovery action packages (short and medium-term planning) across sectors with high resilience value,
  3. Support the implementation of small-scale measures (with positive reciprocal effects between pandemic resilience and ecological, social, economic goals),
  4. Global knowledge exchange on resilient recovery in cities.
