Research, Innovation and Higher Education at European Roadshow 2014

 

EU-India collaboration will be the spotlight of the “European Roadshow 2014”, the third series of information seminars being organized by The Delegation of the European Union to India and EU member states, which will be held in 16 cities in India; some of them being Pune, Goa, Hyderabad, Chennai etc. The series of conferences, scheduled from 9 January to 31 March 2014, aim to present the new Research & Innovation (R&I) funding opportunities and rules, higher education opportunities/fellowships, intellectual property issues, industry-academia partnerships and European R&I support services in India, for a better cooperation between Europe and India. 

 

A key objective of the Roadshow is to promote Indian participation in EU research programmes and to encourage new stakeholders to take part and to engage into international cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Throughout the Roadshow, about 30 European R&I counsellors and representatives of European research organizations will make some 84 presentations in 16 key R&I hotspots in India. Indian participants in past cooperation programmes with Europe will also present their experiences.

Advocacy

ICLEI- Local Governments for Sustainability seeks to build an international policy environment that strengthens local government and supports local sustainability. To facilitate this, ICLEI coordinates local government representation in several UN organizations. Our contributions in the form of side events, publications, verbal interventions and official background papers have been a consistent, major source of international attention to local initiatives and opportunities to enhance sustainability.

Training

ICLEI helps strengthen the capacity of local government officials and leaders to drive a process of change towards sustainable development. ICLEI’s Global Capacity Centre (formerly the International Training Centre) organizes seminars, workshops, and conferences, and offers distance training, study tours, and exchange programs. Regular conferences focused on capacity building and exchange take place globally and regionally.

ICLEI South Asia offers local governments a range of services that support training and capacity building on a number of topics such as carbon emission inventorisation, vulnerability assessment, resilience strategy development, integrated water management, holistic waste management, urban mobility and local biodiversity planning. These trainings are sometimes included in programmes and projects, but could also be designed as stand-alone initiatives.
Conferences organized by ICLEI South Asia also provide opportunities for peer exchanges and capacity building, such as the Asia LEDS Partnership Forums and the Resilient Cities Asia Pacific Congresses.

Consultancy

Technical and consulting services, as well as event organization, are provided on a contract basis, in a variety of areas including:

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability, over the last 20 years, has built considerable in-house research capacity drawing on inter-disciplinary teams of experts and practitioners across its offices worldwide. Links and transfers on research and projects have been continuously extended with partners and relevant actors.
