Kochi Study: Using Green-Grey Infrastructure for Canal Restoration

ICLEI South Asia, in partnership with bechtel.org and Swiss Re, is working on developing a feasibility study of the use of green-grey infrastructure for the restoration of a canal in Kochi. The project is being funded by the Swiss Re Foundation.

ICLEI South Asia and bechtel.org carried out an initial survey of the canals in Fort Kochi. The results of the survey (comprising hydrological, civil, societal and biodiversity aspects) were shared and discussed with Hon’ble Mayor Adv M Anil Kumar and councillors of Kochi Corporation, following which it was decided to conduct an in-depth feasibility study of canal restoration by using green-grey infrastructure in the Pandarachirathodu canal.
