Urban Systems Gap Analysis Reports for Jammu, Srinagar Released

Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Mr. Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary Mr. A.K. Mehta released the Urban Systems Gap Analysis reports prepared for the cities of Srinagar and Jammu, on the occasion of World Environment Day 2022.

The reports are the first step towards the preparation of Climate Resilient City Action Plans for Srinagar and Jammu, which will help the two cities as well as the state of Jammu and Kashmir to stride towards low-carbon resilient development and attain carbon neutrality, as pledged by India, by 2070.

The documents highlight the existing pressures on urban infrastructure, services, and liveability, recommends sectoral interventions, and suggest institutional arrangements for the coherent implementation of resilient development interventions. Leveraging the findings, Srinagar and Jammu can identify the existing disparities and challenges for each urban system and prioritise interventions for sustainable development.

The documents have been prepared by ICLEI South Asia in collaboration with the Department of Ecology, Environment, and Remote Sensing, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, with support from the United Nations Development Programme.
