Akshay Urja Website Launch in Rajkot by Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani

With an aim to make Rajkot a smart and sustainable city, the Chief Minister of Gujarat Shri Vijay Rupani launched Akshay Urja Rajkot/Rajkot SMART Energy Lab website on the 22nd of September, 2017. The SMART Energy Lab is developed in partnership with ICLEI South Asia under the project Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA).

Akshay Urja Rajkot/SMART Energy Lab is a Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC) initiative seeking to link policy makers, private sector, educational institutions and citizens of Rajkot enabling them to make significant contribution to the realisation of Smart Cities and Smart India mission unveiled by the Prime Minister.

The SMART Energy Lab platform will encourage the adoption of renewable energy and energy efficiency products and appliances with a mission to bring about sustainable, eco-friendly and energy efficient development of the Rajkot City.

The main features of the SMART Energy Lab include Renewable energy & Energy Efficiency Calculators to make cost-benefit analysis of adopting such technologies, an Energy Guide to provide tips on saving energy and money at household level, and also provide information on the government schemes and policies. There will also be an Energy Bazaar which will act as a marketplace for local vendors to promote renewable energy and energy efficiency products and appliances. Additionally, the website will also serve as a platform for implementation of PRAKRUTI (RMC Green building guidelines) and SMART Eco-campus program to be launched soon by RMC under the BEA project in Rajkot.
