ICLEI extends segregation and door to door plastic waste collection to the city of Jaisalmer

The pilot project on door to door plastic waste collection is ongoing in Jaisalmer. The city has now shown interest to expand the scope of the project to segregation and collection of all waste at household level in ward five. Eco friendly bags are presently being used by residents of fort city and ward five to segregate plastic waste which is being collected on alternate days with support from Jaisalmer Municipal Council. Residents of the same ward and Municipality have requested for the extension of this initiative to complete waste collection at household level as an initiave towards a swachh neighbourhood.

A vehicle is being operated by ICLEI South Asia in partnership with the Municipal Council for segregated waste collection in ward five. Hands on training for segregation and awareness generation activities have been conducted by team of ICLEI South Asia at household level. The initiative is getting good response and might be extended to Fort city as well in the near future
