Project Summary

The project focuses on enhancing climate resilience in Madhya Pradesh’s urban sector by assisting the World Bank team in developing a Program concept for Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Project (MPUDP) II, creating strategies and guidelines for City Climate Change Action Plans (CCAPs), and identifying and planning climate-resilient urban infrastructure investments, particularly in water supply and wastewater sectors. It also aims to mainstream climate resilience into urban policies and regulations, leveraging national programs such as AMRUT 2.0 and Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0. ICLEI South Asia is providing technical expertise to the PwC project team to support the Government of Madhya Pradesh in improving urban governance and delivering climate-resilient urban services.

Objectives and Outputs

The expected outputs of the project are –

  • State-Level Climate Assessment: Analyze climate challenges and opportunities at the state level.
  • Guidelines for CCAPs: Develop guidelines for city-level Climate Change Action Plans, incorporating gender and disability considerations.
  • Urban Infrastructure Guidelines: Create approaches for cities to plan climate-resilient green urban infrastructure, enabling private sector participation.
