Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM): To define and establish an effective structure of work for GCoM global-regional engagement, and engage in 2021 light touch technical assistance to selected cities (2021-2022)

The project support Global-Regional Coordination of GCoM Regional/Country activities for effective global-regional coordination. The project also supports on light-touch Technical Assistance, with a focus on the Cities Race to Zero, identifying those local leaders (cities, towns, counties) with a potential to make the CRtZ pledge, based on their targets (are these CRtZ acceptable) and their Climate Action Plan (CAP) compatibility towards Paris Agreement goals (using the CAP tool developed in 2020 and improving the finance section thereof).

Objectives and Outputs

• Mobilize 30 cities from ICLEI network cities to pledge to Race to Zero.
  (either pledge directly on CRtZ or via GCC CNF)
• Organize a training session on SBTs with 20 LGs participations.
• Support 30 cities with reporting to the CDP ICLEI Unified Reporting system.
• Conduct eight South Asian cities Climate Action Plan assessment – Paris Agreement compatible (1.5° or well below 2°C).
