Realising DReAMS (Development of Resources and Access to Municipal Services) for South and Southeast- Asian Local Authorities

The project aimed at assisting Local Authorities (LA) of developing and least developed countries to take steps towards achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) through the adoption of tools: the environment and natural resource management system (ecoBudget) and the Poverty Database Monitoring System (PDMS). The method adopted in this programme would support poverty alleviation, good urban governance and local empowerment by developing management capacity. The project focused on South Asian and South East Asian nation cities.

Outputs

• Adoption of the environmental management system ecoBudget and database software – Poverty Database Monitoring System (PDMS) in local authorities.
• Capacity building of Local Authorities to address local environmental and developmental issues.
• Improved access to and management of local environmental resources to achieve poverty reduction, economic development, and environmental security.
• Publication of ecoBudget –PDMS guide for Asian LAs.
