ICLEI South Asia has commenced its work on Integrated Rural Urban Water Management for Climate based Adaptations in Indian cities (IAdapt), with support from International Development Research Centre, Canada. The project is being implemented in partnership with IWMI (International Water Management Institute), Athena Infonomics India Pvt Ltd. and IIT Madras in two cities: Solapur (Maharashtra; which is also an AdoptIUWM project city) and Vijaywada (Andhra Pradesh).
The initiative aims at institutionalization of climate change adaptations by extending an existing framework for Integrated Urban Water Management (IUWM) to the peri urban areas through participatory planning, simple decision support tools, catchment level action plans and multipronged financing approaches.
