Project Summary

Mandated as per the Biological Diversity Act, 2002, the People’s Biodiversity Register is a legally valid document. It comprises of details of the biological wealth and the traditional ecological knowledge in the region. The People’s Biodiversity Register is maintained by the Biodiversity Management Committee of the local body (urban as well as rural).

ICLEI South Asia supported Nagpur Municipal Corporation in the development of the People’s Biodiversity Register and also developed an illustrated urban biodiversity map of Nagpur.
