ICLEI South Asia is supporting the Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) in Andhra Pradesh by providing technical assistance to develop a comprehensive concept for integrated stormwater management. This initiative aims to enhance flood resilience in Tirupati. TUDA is exploring funding from the KfW Development Bank, the German Development bank.
In this context, a delegation from KfW Development Bank and ICLEI South Asia visited Tirupati on 17th and 18th August to discuss the concept. The concept was based on a hydrological assessment of the study area. Identified interventions included rejuvenation of blue infrastructure to improve flood resilience and improved wastewater treatment and management, which would ultimately improve water quality in the city’s water bodies. Going forward, a series of technical studies will be undertaken to prepare Detailed Project Reports, leading to financing and implementation.
