2013 Global Town Hall @ Metropolitan Solutions

8-12 April 2013 – Hannover, Germany

Throughout the five-day metropolitan Solutions tradeshow, the ICLEI’s Global Town Hall® brought together city and business representatives to discuss innovative urban infrastructure solutions. In cities around the world infrastructure solutions are built and maintained by companies. Yet fruitful dialogue on how to advance and built the most effective, efficient and sustainable solutions is lacking. The Global Town Hall @ Metropolitan Solutions helped on one side cities gain new understanding of the latest technologies and services companies are offering, and on the other contributed to increase companies’  expertise on cities’ needs and requirements. Sessions at the Global Town Hall 2013 were followed not only by a live audience at the fair but also over 26,000 visits to the live web streaming. Resilient Cities 2013: 4th Global Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation 

31 May-2 June 2013 – Bonn, Germany 

With 489 participants from 51 countries and 115 local government representatives from 55 cities, Resilient Cities 2013 proved again to be the global platform to discuss urban resilience.  While an increasing number of cities and organizations now recognize the need for urban adaptation planning, it is clear more must be done to move local governments quickly toward the implementation phase. The report provides insight into how this objective can be achieved, offers a snapshot of the state of urban resilience and adaptation examples from around the world, and provides ideas, suggestions, and lessons learned for future adaptation work from leading experts and practitioners are also provided.
