City Biodiversity Index Reports for Indore, Bhopal Released
ICLEI South Asia has developed the City Biodiversity Index of the cities of Bhopal and Indore, in collaboration with Wildlife Institute of India. The assignment was supported by the Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board. The reports of the City Biodiversity Index of both the cities were released by the Madhya Pradesh State Biodiversity Board at a function in Bhopal on 15th February. The event was attended by a wide array of stakeholders from both the cities. Each of the 23 indicators and the city specific calculations for the same were explained in detail to the stakeholders by ICLEI South Asia. Developed and maintained by the Singapore National Parks Department (NParks), with support from ICLEI, the CBD and others, the City Biodiversity Index is the only biodiversity index, designed specifically for monitoring and evaluating biodiversity in cities and is endorsed by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
