Meet Soumya Chaturvedula – Regional Manager
Soumya Chaturvedula is an environmental engineer by training and works in the fields of solid waste, wastewater and water management and climate change mitigation. She is responsible for climate mitigation activities within ICLEI South Asia.
What has your contribution to city governments been through ICLEI?
I have been actively involved in developing decentralised waste water solutions in cities, low carbon solutions in municipal service delivery in 8 of the Urban LEDS cities and am also part of the national expert team working on reviewing and revising the CPHEEO Manual on solid waste management. My work with cities includes both on ground implementation of projects and development of policy directives.
How has your experience of working with ICLEI been so far?
ICLEI a very inspiring place to work in. With an understanding and great respect for Urban Local Bodies in South Asia, ICLEI carries out the daunting task of managing cities under difficult circumstances, restricted funds and manpower, I feel privileged to build capacities and empower municipal authorities to adopt resource efficient and sustainable growth paradigms.
What, according to you, makes ICLEI a great place to work at?
ICLEI promotes a culture of cross learning and sharing among its diverse teams; it encourages flexibility and rewards accountability. With a relatively young workforce in our office, high on enthusiasm and commitment and with accomplished and diverse global teams with whom we collaborate regularly, ICLEI is a happy happening place to work at!
