Urban LEDS-II: Rajshahi Approves Climate Action Plan
The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) in Bangladesh has approved the Climate-Resilient City Action Plan (CRCAP) prepared by ICLEI South Asia under its Urban LEDS-II project. The CRCAP was approved and released during the 26th Environmental Standing Committee Meeting organised by RCC, which was attended by the corporation’s CEO, chief engineer, and other senior officials, as well local councillors, among others.
The CRCAP encapsulates key strategies that provide a pathway for Rajshahi city to enhance its climate resilience, and address climate adaptation and mitigation actions in an integrated manner. The identified strategies will help to reduce GHG emissions and manage local climate risks efficiently and support the city in its Sustainable Development Goal aspirations.
Rajshahi, continuing on its low-carbon and climate-resilient journey, has also assessed data for its Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory Report, Climate Risk and Vulnerability Assessment Report, Investment Grade Energy Audit Report, a Pictorial Handbook of Common Trees, and the Natural Asset Map and Tree Distribution Map of Rajshahi, with support from the Urban LEDS-II project, which was funded by the European Commission and jointly implemented by ICLEI and UN-Habitat.
