The overall objective of the project is to support the Department of Environment, Climate Change, and Forests (DoECCF) in setting up an inclusive Project Management Unit (PMU) for the first year (01 January 2022–31 December 2022), to support the Mission Director’s office to develop plans and implement climate-resilient and sustainable actions through proactive interdepartmental coordination strategies, innovative climate actions, and financing models.
Activities
- Review to identify potential drivers, opportunities, and challenges for implementing the three missions (M1- M2)
- Convene multi-stakeholder meetings and identify a road-map for all the three missions
- Develop short, medium, and long-term action plans for all three missions, in consultation with relevant stakeholders
- Support preparation of a framework for Climate Resilient District Action Plans (CRDAP) (M1-M4)
- Prepare a model GHG Emissions Inventory Tool that can be deployed at the district level (M1-M4)
- Support deployment of the above methodologies across all districts and cities in Tamil Nadu (M4- 20)
- Facilitate Preparation of CRDAPs in districts of Tamil Nadu (upto 5) and integration into SAPCC for Tamil Nadu (M4-M22)
- Preparation of Local Biodiversity Strategic Action Plan (LBSAP) and Miyawaki Forest Development Guidelines for TN. (M1-M4)
- Preparation of action plans and facilitation of implementation of action plans for the Green Tamil Nadu Mission and Tamil Nadu Wetlands Mission (M4 -M24)
- Identification of enabling strategies, interventions, and climate actions through the policies and schemes of other major departments, focusing on renewable energy
- Identification of pilot and at-scale projects across the three missions and support and enable the implementation of actions
- Knowledge dissemination and capacity building initiatives (M4-M24) Design and conduct periodically technical training programs for all line departments and district and city level officials to support the implementation of actions relevant to the three missions
- Design and publication of guidance notes, guidelines, processes, and case studies
- Final dissemination workshop
